    Re: Kurt Busch

I have nothing against the ACC...I don't ever think it will be the dominant college football conference in america...it will always have miami, fsu and tech (who i think is on the downhill side of their peak)...then there will be 2 or three teams (Maryland, UVA, Georgia Tech, Wake, Clemson) that will be good off and on.
...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....

    Re: Kurt Busch

Now I never said they would be the deepist I do think that there top 2 or 3 teams could all be top 15 schools most years (SEC is already there)

The Miami vs FSU championship games have not happend yet IMHO it is only a matter of time before both programs get back to where they should be....VT is a solid #3 that can and will beat both Miami and FSU some years the rest may have a good/great year from time to time but will not be in the Championship picture unless the league is down (Like 06)

It will take some time before the NC schools help move the ACC into competition with the SEC as a whole.

Give them 2 years and they should be. I am curious to see if Wake is a fluke or if they can sustain it. Duke, well, I don't see Spurrier coming back there. Plus, Maryland seems to be on the downturn as well.

Duke is always gonna be down, and Maryland will always be just OK.

But I think UNC, NC State and Wake are on the upswing.

    Re: Kurt Busch

Let's take the past 5-10 years, just thinking aloud.

Most every season, you can say that the solid squads in the ACC include Miami, FSU, VT, GT, BC, and Clemson. NCSU, UNC, Wake, UMD, and UVA all have the potential from year to year to come up and upset someone in the conference. The only team that's a true cellar dweller year in and year out is Duke.

In the SEC, the solid squads most of the time are UF, UT, UGA, LSU, Auburn, and Bama. The teams that have the potential to come up from time to time and upset some of those guys are S. Carolina, Arkansas, and Ole Miss. The true cellar dwellers as of late have been Vandy, Miss. St., and UK.

I feel like the middle & bottom teams from the ACC within the past 10 years are better overall than the middle & bottom teams from the SEC. I'm an ACC guy, but I watch a lot of football and haven't really seen much to fly in the face of that. Vandy was good with Cutler, and UK was good last year in beating Clemson in their bowl game...but that's about it.

Things are heavily in flux right now in both leagues. If I was buying stocks, I'd be buying the ACC low and selling the SEC high. One reason why the SEC got so much better over the past 5 years or so is that FSU & Miami both struggled to keep Florida talent at home in recruiting, and LSU, Bama, UT, Auburn, and UF in particular propspered due to that. Both Miami & FSU are back on the right track so far as far as recruiting Florida talent goes and keeping it home, so that alone tells me to expect a shift upwards in the ACC and downward in the SEC.

    Re: Kurt Busch

Not sure I see it that way....I do agree that both Miami and FSU will improve over where they have been the last few years but I am not seeing a big drop off for the SEC big dogs anytime soon. Now the SEC will not have a team in the national championship game every year BUT I am sure that will have one you can make a strong case for every year

No offense to anyone but Butch cant coach worth a lick and Mack Brown cant either, both of them can recruit, but when you look at Mack, he wasnt exactly on the verge of major bowl games at Carolina so you just gotta wonder how well Butch can really do. Its easy to be a good recruiter when you have south florida in your back yard.
